Karen is a construction industry professional with over 21 years of experience. From her beginning as an estimator for a general contractor, she rapidly progressed through the ranks ultimately becoming a company executive for Gilbane, one of the top 25 contractors in the country.

During this period, Karen served as the boots on the ground Project Manager on more than 15 projects costing up to $49M, from preconstruction through the completion of work, on average 18 months each. Karen’s remarkable passion and dedication to successfully completing her projects, regardless of high level complexity and numerous challenging situations, made her a sought after project manager and provided her opportunities to work with Clark Construction, Beers/Skanska and Manhattan.

A partial listing of projects that have benefited from Karen's expertise include the Gannett/USA Today Headquarters ($200M), the Georgia Tech Carbon Neutral Energy Solutions Laboratory ($24M), the Walton High School Replacement ($49M) and the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Addition/Renovation ($30M).

As a preconstruction executive and project executive, Karen advised on regional strategy decisions. To round out her experience, she also spent 3 years as an owner’s representative for a global firm where she learned customs in the industry and best practices of project management from an owner’s perspective. Through the years, having served in every role throughout the construction life cycle, Karen was fortunate to have been able to develop in-depth skills in:
  • Project planning, phasing and site logistics
  • Estimating
  • Bidding and tendering, purchasing, scope development
  • Contracts evaluation, negotiation and compliance
  • Baseline schedule development
  • Project controls and budget administration
  • Construction means and methods
  • Troubled project recovery planning
  • CPM scheduling
  • Change order and claim preparation
  • Forensic scheduling analysis
Karen has provided these services across many sectors of the construction industry including: education, healthcare, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, multi-family, commercial buildings, and industrial for both public and private clients.

Karen’s deep understanding of industry best practices, coupled with years of real world boots on the ground experience identifying and implementing creative solutions on projects in distress, has led to her ability to anticipate potential issues before they occur.

Taken together, these attributes allow her to serve as a highly valuable resource to clients in need of advisory and/or dispute resolution services at any point before, during or after most any construction undertaking.

Karen holds a Civil Engineering Degree from Georgia Tech and has earned LEED Accreditation through managing numerous LEED certified projects.
