Dr. Pian Chen joined GlassRatner in 2019. She is a Ph.D. economist with over a decade of experience in economic litigation consulting and advanced econometric modeling. She works with counsel and testifying experts on deposition, settlement, summary judgment and trial. She leads project teams to analyze terabytes of financial transaction data as well as large medical and drug claims databases.

She has developed sophisticated quantitative methods to establish liabilities and measure damages for matters involving horizontal price-fixing behavior, illegal trading schemes, product hop and pay-to-delay generic entry, mortgage-backed security fraud, energy price manipulation, hospital mergers, and intellectual properties.

Dr. Chen is a frequent speaker and expert on antitrust issues. Her recent paper "Measuring Antitrust Damages in the Presence of Foreign Government Regulation" was presented at the 2018 National Association of Forensic Economics Conference and is now published on Antitrust Bulletin, Second Issue, 2019. Her article "Antitrust Damages Analysis Can Respect International Comity" is featured on Expert Analysis, Law360, April 24, 2018.

Dr. Chen received her Ph.D. in Agricultural and Resource Economics from University of California, Davis and a master degree in Economics from Shenzhen University, China. She taught econometric courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels at Victoria University in New Zealand between 2007 and 2009.

In October 2009, Dr. Chen started her consulting career at Bates White, where she collaborated closely with Professor Halbert White to develop cutting-edge econometric techniques for selecting the most appropriate economic variables for antitrust damage models. Dr. Chen also worked as a Senior Economist at Nathan Associates and a Principal Economist at Monument Economics.
